Guide

A practical framework.

Use this guide as a starting point for requirements, implementation planning or an architecture review.

1. Start with the journey

Define entry, goal, decisions, timing, channels and exits before configuring nodes.

2. Keep branching intentional

Each branch should represent a meaningful customer decision or business rule.

3. Plan experiments

Decide where variants, holdouts and measurement belong before launch.

4. Test the user paths

Validate entry, branches, delays, personalization, channel behavior and exit conditions.

5. Review and simplify

Use performance and operational feedback to remove unnecessary complexity.

Quality standard

Canvas design review checklist

A production Canvas should have a clear entry event, audience definition, suppression logic, exit criteria, channel decisioning, delay strategy and measurement plan. Review every branch for unreachable states, duplicate sends, missing fallback content and unclear ownership. Validate quiet hours, subscription status and frequency policies before activation, then inspect delivery and conversion data after launch.
